Is Potassium Safe with Digoxin?

Maintain normal potassium. Do not start or stop supplements without lab-guided supervision.
Why this interaction occurs
Digoxin has a narrow therapeutic window and potassium balance is critical. Hypokalemia increases digoxin binding to Na+/K+-ATPase and dramatically raises toxicity risk — especially with concurrent diuretics. Blanket avoidance of potassium can backfire when deficiency is present. Hyperkalemia also requires attention but the greater clinical concern is often undertreated hypokalemia.
Evidence
Evidence level: strong.
