Consult your physician before taking Glycine supplements with Gabapentin. Monitor for excessive sedation, dizziness, or coordination problems.
Why this interaction occurs
Glycine is an inhibitory neurotransmitter acting on strychnine-sensitive glycine receptors in the spinal cord and brainstem. Gabapentin reduces excitatory neurotransmitter release via alpha-2-delta calcium channel subunit binding. Combined, these agents may produce additive inhibitory CNS effects, increasing sedation and fall risk, particularly at higher Gabapentin doses.
