Is Vitamin E Safe with Edoxaban?
Free · No account · based on published sources including NIH ODS, FDA drug labels, and peer-reviewed literature
Limit vitamin E supplementation to doses at or below 400 IU/day while taking edoxaban. High doses (>800 IU/day) should be avoided. Discuss any vitamin supplement regimen with your pharmacist.
Why this interaction occurs
High-dose vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) inhibits platelet aggregation and vitamin K-dependent coagulation factor activity. While edoxaban does not directly involve the vitamin K pathway, vitamin E's antiplatelet mechanism adds to edoxaban's Factor Xa inhibition and may modestly elevate bleeding risk at supplemental doses.
